Special Feature Greg Craig...An in-depth look into the driver of the #34.Greg CraigGreg talks with Breakaway about his sim racing career and the personal side of the #34 driver!
We're sitting down with Greg Craig...driver of the #34 Old El Paso Pontiac Grand Prix, driving for Outlaw Motorsports. Greg tell our readers where your from? Originally from Dayton, Ohio but just moved to Columbus, Ohio this past January How long have you been sim racing? I've been sim racing in one form or another for about 13 or 14 years since the Indy Car Racing days and every iteration of the Papyrus Nascar series. I have always been a fan of any type of motorsport racing and was just naturally drawn to the sim since I am a bit of a computer geek. Greg...Most of us know that your an intrical part of Outlaw Motorsports racing program. Can you tell our readers how long you've been on the team and how that all came about? I've been with Outlaw MotorSports for roughly 5 or 6 years, Harold, Tony and myself having been racing together quite a while before that time and Harold decided to form the team. I have also been racing with Ken for a very long time. Ken got me involved in Liquid Motion Racing which was the first team I had ever been a part of. That was back in the original NASCAR Racing and NASCAR Racing II days. This is my first year with Paul and I am very glad to be running with him and all my team mates. I think they asked me to join the team because they were tired of me running into them. I think the idea was that they thought if I were on their team, I would make a special effort to not run into them. Whats your opinion of the new game from The Sim Factory and how is your racing program adjusting to it? I like the new sim, I don't think it has quite the polish that N2K3 had, but it is a good start and I think it has great potential. Right now, I am just trying to figure out the setups, which is not my strong suit. Also trying to relearn all the function keys and controls. Kind of hard to teach an old dog new tricks, I had the N2K3 controls and function keys memorized like the back of my hand. Just a matter of time to get them learned though. Any recomendations you could give any Rookies coming into our sport? Practice, practice, practice. Also get with any of us in the league, everyone in this league is more than willing to help in any area, that is what I most like about BRL. Some drivers are kind of using this season as a stepping stone to the 2009 season. How are you approaching our 2008 season? Just trying to get with the program right now. I am also trying to get a new steering wheel dialed in. Any new paint schemes coming our way this season for the #34 team? I am still diving the Old El Paso paint scheme and probably always will. I have being running that paint scheme in one form or another for many years. I do have an alternate paint job this year, Chimay Trappist Monk Ale. I always have a couple new paint jobs in the works, but nothing cooking right now that is close to being ready. Any news to report from Outlaw Motorsports Headquarters? We picked up Paul (aka: Mr Moto) as a new teammate and also Ken (Raider88) as an "old" "new" teammate. If you dont mind, could you give our readers some extra info about yourself...For instance, What's your local tracks name and where is it? I have several tracks within a short drive, Columbus Speedway 1/3 mile short track, Mansfield speedway is about 45 minutes away and also Mid-Ohio sports car course is about an hour away Do you ever get to go to a Nascar Race? I have only been to one NASCAR race, We went to Atlanta a couple of years ago for the entire race weekend. Had tickets and Golden Corral VIP passes for the Truck, Busch and Cup race and what a blast that entire weekend was. I also attended the Nationwide series race at the Kentucky Speedway just last month. I have also attended several IRL races and GTP event at Mid-Ohio and also the Cleveland Gran Prix. What other hobbies do you have besides Sim Racing? I am an avid Bowler and also enjoy playing golf in the summer months. Oh yea, and I enjoy drinking Budweiser Beer! Ok Greg...Lets do a game here called 5 Laps with Greg Craig! I'll say a word and you give us your response!

Thanks for taking the time for our readers!! NewsflashBreakaway's drivers answered a recent poll in our forums and have decided by a majority vote to change the Breakaway Cockpits.com Series race lengths from 100% to 75%. They also have voted on changing the fuel usage to 2x fuel.Pitroad ReportAggressive driving continues to plague the Breakaway Cockpits.com Series races. Race officials are still fielding complaints from series drivers that the racing is great but a few drivers still have no patience and continue to plow there way to the front with little regard to clean racing.Officials say that a new explaination of "Over Aggressive" driving is coming our way and will be made available in our "General Rules" pages, in the very near future. Until then...Drivers are being asked to calm down and let the race come to them for the first 3/4 of the race.
